I have finally obtained a sim card for my phone so now you can write "Mobile phone #: 9741821595" on any packages coming this way. Yay!
Today they had french toast and hard boiled eggs at the floating restaurant which was quite a pleasant surprise...food that I can actually eat! Other than that, today was yet another uneventful day full of presentations and administrative paperwork stuff. Although it did seem to pass by faster since we occupied ourselves with various sudoku and various other games...oops.
I did meet my local "buddy" here at Mysore. Her name is Ann and she is super nice. She seems really eager to help me out and show me around so hopefully I'll get a chance to see her again. It will be super helpful to get a local's perspective here. She has already warned us not to go into Mysore this Friday because it is Independence Day and it is sure to be crowded, half closed, and have heightened security. Perhaps Saturday instead? I'm desperately in need of some real running/sport shoes/sneakers...
I also learned how to play carrom today! It's like a mix between pool and mah jong but it can really start to hurt your fingers after awhile! Perhaps if we get the chance to practice more I'll get better...

pool and mah jong? You're trying to knock rectangular tiles into the pockets?
Ohhh...you'll have to teach us that when you get back. There's also a game my Indian friends taught me called 10's. Basically, you and your partner across from you (4 or 6 people only) try and win the tricks with 10. If there's a tie, then the team with the total number of tricks wins.
So what food would you like...?
Yes, carrom is like that! Except they aren't rectangular tiles...they're more round tiles. There are even numbers of black and white tiles (like stripes and solids) and one red tile (like the 8 ball!) You try to knock in all the tiles for your color and then you have to knock in the red tile second to last. It's pretty fun!
